Welcome! We're Paul & Dana, and we're so glad you picked our little cottage. This guide has everything you'll need — the WiFi, how the hot tub works, and every place we send our own friends when they visit.

📶 WiFi
The router lives in the hall closet — if the internet ever sulks, unplug it for 10 seconds. Smart TV in the living room is signed into Netflix as "Guest".
🔑 Check-in & out
Check-in · After 4:00 PM
The lockbox is mounted on the wall just left of the front door. Code: 4821. The key inside opens both the front and back doors.
Running late? No problem — check in any time after 4, no need to tell us.
Check-out · By 11:00 AM
Start the dishwasher, drop used towels in the tub, lock both doors, and pop the key back in the lockbox. That's genuinely it — we handle the rest.
🚗 Parking & getting in
Park in the gravel spot to the right of the garage — it fits two cars nose-to-tail. Street parking is unrestricted if you have a third.
📋 House rules
- No smoking anywhere on the property
- Quiet hours after 10 PM — the neighbors are lovely, let's keep it that way
- No parties or events
- Hot tub closes at 10 PM (it's right under the neighbor's window)
- Please don't feed the deer — they will never, ever leave
🛠️ The house, explained
Hot tub
Lid lifts from the deck side (there's a handle). Jets: press the big round button once. Temperature is preset to 102°F — please don't crank it, it takes hours to recover.
House rule: shower first, and no glass in or near the tub. Plastic wine glasses are in the cabinet above the fridge.
Thermostat
It's the round dial in the hallway. Twist for temperature; it figures out heat vs. cool on its own. Please keep it between 62–74°F. The bedrooms run a couple degrees warmer than the hall.
Fireplace
It's gas — flip the switch on the wall to the left of the mantel. No wood, no matches, no drama. It turns itself off after 2 hours.
Coffee
There's a drip machine AND a French press. Beans are in the freezer (yes, we know, fight us) and the grinder is next to the toaster. Local beans from Backporch Coffee — you're welcome.
Grill
Weber on the back deck. Propane valve: turn the tank knob fully open, then use the burner dials. If it won't light, the spare tank is in the garage by the bikes. Please give the grates a quick brush after.

🗑️ Trash & recycling
Bins live on the side of the garage: green is trash, blue is recycling. Pickup is Tuesday morning — if you're here Monday night and feeling saintly, rolling them to the curb makes our week.
📄 Pet policy
Dogs are welcome (that's why you booked us, we know). Please keep them off the beds, bag the evidence, and don't leave them alone in the house — the deer situation drives them bananas.
💬 Need anything?
Text anytime — we live 10 minutes away and would rather fix a small thing at 9 PM than have you shrug and live with it.
Emergency
Nearest ER: St. Charles Medical Center, 2500 NE Neff Rd — about 12 minutes.
Fire extinguisher: under the kitchen sink.
Breaker panel: garage, left wall, clearly labeled.
Gas shutoff: exterior, north side of the house.
